ON WEDNESDAY, 20 MARCH, THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE CONTINUED WORKING IN THE PLENARY REGIME.
At the beginning of the morning session the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak read the names of the absentee on the meeting.
The people?s deputies spoke on their announcements, statements, reports and propositions.
Members of the Parliament continued to consider range of issues on appointing early local elections.
The Verkhovna Rada adopted a range of resolutions, appointing early local elections of separate village, township and city mayors on Sunday, June 2 of the current year.
After the non-adoption of the resolution on appointing the elections in Vasylkiv, Kyiv region, and revote of this issue, which was not successful also, the Chairperson announced a break in the meeting for consultations.
After the break, the Chairman announced that the faction leaders coordinated and proposed to the people’s deputies: to return to the consideration of those draft resolutions on early local elections that did not receive votes; to cancel results of the voting for appointment of elections of Vasylkiv, Alchevsk and Novodnistrovsk city mayors; to entrust specialized committee to examine these issues and put them to vote in the session hall tomorrow.
People’s deputies went back on a vote regarding appointing elections of Vasylkiv and Alchevsk city mayors.
Voting on appointing early elections of these mayors was not successful.
Further voting on appointing other early local elections were also ineffective. People’s deputies of “Batkivshchyna”, “Udar” and “Svoboda” factions did not participate in voting.
It was noted that “there is fight a delaying action taking place in the session hall in order not to consider the next agenda item on appointing elections to the Kyiv City Council and Kyiv city mayor”.
Representatives of the Party of Regions and opposing factions called on each other to participate in voting.
At the request of two factions there was a break announced in order to hold consultations.
The Chairman informed later that leaders of deputy factions keep consulting and adjourned the morning session.
Next plenary meeting of the second session will be held on Thursday, March 21.
